Prof. Dr. Christina Hoon
The course UF 1 covers the areas of characteristics of family businesses, fields of action and development of family businesses. The aim is to impart basic competences for the conceptual and application-oriented examination of issues relating to the management of family businesses. For that purpose an overview of the theoretical foundations of family business management is provided. In addition, the content relates to functions and positions in family businesses as well as strategic and operational management instruments. Finally, the course covers committee structures typical for family businesses. In each case, an insight into specific problems is provided in order to achieve a systematic examination of relevant specialist topics.
A combination of classic lectures, self-study of basic literature and in-depth discussion events enables the teaching of professional competence as well as methodological and social skills. A practical lecture and a case study discussion reinforce the application orientation of this course.
